COVINGTON, Ind. - I. Cecil Adams, 79, of Covington, a former resident of Danville, died at 6:30 a.m. today (Aug. 24, 1978) at Lakeview Medical Center. He had been a patient two weeks. Born June 17, 1899, in Warren County, he was the son of Charles Samuel and Della M. Olehy Adams. He was married Jan. 19, 1919, at Paris to Mildred M. Shoaf, who survives. His family moved to Danville when he was young and he graduated from Danville High in 1918. He had been captain of his high school football team for three years and had played baseball in the old Three-I League for three years. He returned to the farm where he was born in 1932 and farmed there until his retirement in 1976. He returned to Covington following his retirement, He was a veteran of service in the Navy during World War I. Adams had been treasurer of the State Line United Methodist Church for 35 years. He was one of the 19 original incorporators of the Warren County REMC. An avid sports fan, he was the member of the Covington Athletic Boosters Club. He also was a member of the KMPS Senior Citizens. Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Leroy (Dorothy) Keller of Covington, Mrs. Marian David (Betty) Minser of Fithian and Mrs. Robert (Marilyn) Gross of Covington Route 2; a son, Richard E. of Covington; a sister, Mrs. Ralph (Helen) Hill of Southport; 12 grandchildren and a great-granddaughter. He was preceded in death by a sister and two brothers. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Bodine & Shelby Funeral Home in Covington. The Rev. Tom Wilson will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery. Friends will be received after 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. The family will be present from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. Friday.
